Voice Mode
Talk to your agent hands-free in the iOS app. Voice mode reads each reply aloud, then listens for your answer.
Turn It On
- In Settings, turn on Voice Summaries. A microphone appears next to the message box in your sessions.
- Open a session and tap the microphone. The first time, allow microphone and speech recognition.
- A rising tone plays, the microphone turns green, and the bar above the message box says Listening…
Voice mode keeps going when the phone locks or you switch to another app – it still listens, sends and reads replies aloud – and is where you left it when you come back. For a bigger view, tap ⤢ in the bar: voice mode fills the screen, with your words in large type and big Edit, Send and Stop buttons. When a reply comes, a small box above your words shows its summary – or its opening lines – until you send again; a fade along its bottom means there's more to scroll. Your words come first: with large text or the phone on its side, the box shrinks, or steps aside, to leave them room. It opens that way next time, until you tap ⤡ to go back to the bar.
Reply
- Say your reply. Pause as long as you like – your words appear in the bar as you speak.
- Then say "send it" on its own. It sends what you said, after anything already in the message box. Tapping send does the same.
- Said in one breath with your reply – "check the logs, send it" – nothing is sent. Everything goes into the message box, and the phone says "That's in the message box. Say send it when you're ready." Say "send it" again to send it.
- Or end your reply with "over" – "check the logs, over" – and it sends straight away, without the "over". Only as the last word: "start over with the tests" stays part of your reply. "Over" on its own works like "send it".
- A long reply grows the bar, then scrolls; scroll back to read it. Tap Edit to move what you've said into the message box and fix it there, then say "send it" or tap send.
- To start over, tap ⓧ at the end of the message box. It empties the box and nothing else – attached images stay, and voice mode keeps listening.
- If a send fails, the phone says "That didn't send. Say retry to try again." Say "retry" – or "send it" or "over" with nothing new in the message box – to send it again, as tapping Retry on the message does.
- After you send, voice mode listens again straight away, so you can keep talking while the agent works. What you send waits its turn, like a typed follow-up.
When the Agent Replies
- Its summary is read aloud, then voice mode listens for your answer. A reply without a summary is read from its first sentence.
- It never talks over you: a reply that arrives while you're speaking waits, and is read once you've sent your words or said "never mind".
- While a reply is read, only "stop listening" works by voice. To interrupt and answer, tap Stop in the bar.
- While the list of what you can say is read – or what one command does – say "stop" or "cancel" to cut it short and keep talking. "Stop listening" and "never mind" don't work there: the list says them itself.
- To have replies wait instead of being read, turn off Read Replies Aloud in Voice Mode in Settings. Play last reply in the bar reads the latest one.
What You Can Say
Say these on their own, after a pause. Tap ⓘ in the bar to see this list, or say "what can I say" to hear it. To hear what one does, ask – "what does send it do?"
| Say | What it does |
|---|---|
| "Send it" | Sends your message, said on its own after a pause. |
| "Over" | Said as the last word, sends what you said before it. |
| "Stop listening" | Turns voice mode off, even while a reply is read. |
| "Never mind" | Takes back what you just said. |
| "Read it all" | Reads all of the reply, not just its summary. |
| "Say that again" | Reads the reply again. |
| "Retry" | Sends again a message that didn't send. |
| "What can I say" | Lists what you can say. |
Polite words like "okay" and "please" are fine around a command. Anything else you say is part of your reply.
What Ends It
- Tapping the microphone, saying "stop listening", opening the menu, or leaving the session turns voice mode off with a falling tone.
- Voice mode also turns itself off when you take a call, play sound in another app, take your AirPods out, play a message by hand, or say nothing for two minutes. A banner above the message box says why; tap ✕ to dismiss it.
Anything you said and didn't send stays in the message box.
